Cooper thinks Bolton spell could have damaged Doidge

FOREST Green boss Mark Cooper thinks Christian Doidge's fate at Bolton Wanderers may have slightly damaged his game.

Doidge scored his first goals since returning from the championship club Tuesday night against Grimsby Town.

Cooper praised the attacker's strength of character to rebound and score what he described as "typical" Doidge's goals, but felt that the way Bolton played may have had an effect on his game.

"I think it might have been a little damaged," Cooper said. "Sitting in a team that did not have many opportunities, he was running and running because it was a troubled team, so it's basically about limiting the damage.

"Christian must be part of a team where he has plenty of chances and balls in the six meters.

"But having a market that, he thought, was guaranteed, requires a little success, no matter who we are, but the strength of character was there for everyone.

"He needed Saturday out of his way but he bounced back on Tuesday with two goals typical of Christian Doidge."

Cooper also talked about Stevenage's crucial trip to his pre-match press conference on Saturday.

He also confirmed that Reece Brown would be good for the match after a small flu, but said that Dayle Grubb would still be in two weeks.
