Coronation Street bosses "cut the hours of filming to keep the stars happy" after resigning

The bosses of Coronation Street took a decisive step to retain their stars after five actors left the show.

It has been reported that the soap opera would stop spinning on Sunday in order to keep the actors happy and prevent discontent from growing.

A source told The Sun that "the weekend job will only be a Saturday" and that it is promised that it will be "not at all every Saturday".

It seems that many young actors have been angry with the hours, with the source saying that they "are really upset by the work of the weekend".

It was reported that cast members would have a day off mid-week but that "did not help … because they know they have to come on weekends".

Changes that have been made will mean that weekend work will become "rare" and only "in extreme circumstances".

After a series of big names have decided to set aside their career on the cobblestones, the soap opera bosses will be happy that some are now signing new contracts to extend their stay.

Kym Marsh and Tristan Gemmill were followed by Lucy Fallon. Faye Brookes and Katie McGlynn also said they wanted to leave the soap.

It's a nice turnaround now that Sam Robertson (Adam Barlow), Samia Longchambon (Maria) and Daniel Brocklebank (Billy) have all agreed to make a longer commitment to Corrie.

The source admitted that it was "a disturbing period for the series" and that "the members of the cast behaved like dominoes".

They added that "no one is bigger than Corrie", despite the changes made to ensure that the flow is stopped.
