Former deputy health minister Dr Bernard Okoe Boye has warned Ghanaians against sitting in air-conditioned offices during this pandemic season.
Delivering a speech to Ghanaians in his 26th COVID-19 Nation Update on Sunday July 25, 2021, President Nana Akufo-Addo warned that “according to the data available from the Ghana Health Service, it appears that, unfortunately, our nation , like many others, is experiencing a third wave of COVID-19 infections “.
He also warned the citizens by stressing that “the wearing of masks in public places, fellow Ghanaians, continues to be compulsory”. There are no exceptions to this rule, and strict adherence to this protocol will be applied. Anyone who flouts this directive will themselves be to blame. We cannot afford the recklessness of anyone to endanger the lives of the majority of people in the country. ”
Discussing the president’s speech on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo”, Dr. Okoe Boye noted that the virus enjoys the comfort of air conditioning, thus spreading rapidly in cold and closed areas.
He therefore urged Ghanaians who work in air-conditioned offices to wear their nasal masks or open office windows to bring in fresh air to prevent transmission and infection of the disease.
“This period does not require air conditioning. This virus likes air conditioning. You know the virus prefers the cold… So, if it is possible to open the windows in your office, open the windows… Because one Once you close the windows, other than the cold air, you have trapped the air, so you don’t have anything that tries to reduce the particle concentration or at worst, wear your mask. air-conditioned space, your risk minimizes, “he admonished.
