COTVET, the MOU unveils its national campaign

The Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, has launched a national campaign.

The campaign to promote vocational training is named, & # 39; MY TVET & # 39; Wednesday, June 12 at the International Conference Center Accra (AICC).

Under the theme: "Skills for Jobs and National Development", the launch brought together representatives of the Ministry of Education, COTVET, other important stakeholders and dignitaries, as well as students from some vocational and technical schools in Accra.

In an address delivered on behalf of the Minister of Education, Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Deputy Minister of Education for Technical Education, Gifty Twum Ampofo, highlighted some of the government's activities aimed at to improve technical and vocational education and training in the country. .

They include the improvement of the infrastructure of TVET institutions, including the construction of modern TVET institutions in various parts of the country; establish a TVET service; to provide free technical and vocational education and training and to upgrade technology colleges.

She expressed optimism that the above-mentioned governmental interventions, badociated with the "MY TVET" campaign, could reverse the negative attitude of society towards TVET, by making it more attractive to young people and increasing the number of registrations in TVET institutions over the next five years.

However, she warned that "campaigns are very demanding and costly", as COTVET and its partners must strive to make this campaign effective and impactful.

"Do not sleep at work after launch. These measures, combined with other measures, will put TVET in the right place for development in our country, "she said.

In his welcome address, COTVET Executive Director, Fred Kyei Asamoah, said that resources had been committed for the implementation of the campaign, expressing the hope that "together, we can transform the nation through TVET ".

He pointed out that COTVET has established close collaboration with the industry.

"We have reached a stage in our development program where the industry needs to be encouraged to lead the training process for its next users.

We can only do this by mobilizing our industry players so that they can make a significant contribution to the development of the TVET sector in Ghana, "he said.
