Derby County confirms that Kaide Gordon is now a Liverpool player. The 16-year-old is joining for an undisclosed amount.
This comes straight from Derby County, which confirms Kaide Gordon is now a Liverpool player on their website.
They announce that the two teams have reached a compensation agreement on an immediate transfer.
Kaide Gordon
Gordon is their reigning Academy Player of the Year, which recently earned him a senior debut. That debut only lasted a minute in a 4-0 win over Birmingham City, but it shows how close the Rams are to Gordon.
He’s still only 16, after all, and didn’t turn 16 until October. He is a very young player but he is close to the senior level despite this.

Manager Wayne Rooney, who handed Gordon his senior debut, had some really good words about the teenager recently.
“I brought Kaide with the first team at the start to train with us for a week to see how he reacted to it, and he was one of the best coaches,” he said, per Sky Sports.
“I kept him with us for a few weeks and he trains at the same level – if not at a better level – than many others [senior] players. “
Again, it looks like Gordon is really not far from senior games. And it is fascinating.
We saw the same with Harvey Elliott, after all. Elliott is only a year older and thriving in the championship.
Now those are incredibly high standards and we should refrain from comparing Gordon to Elliott. But this is an example of Liverpool’s ability to find the right path for young players close to first-team level.
I hope they can do the same with Gordon. Derby believe he is “the best 16-year-old in the country”, according to Athletic, suggesting Liverpool have a lot to work on.
