Court orders NAM 1 to be held by BNI

Accra, July 12, GNA – An Accra Circuit Court
Friday in custody Nana Appiah Mensah, chief executive of Menzgold,
a gold distribution company known as NAM 1 held by the BNI to reappear
in court on July 26.

NAM 1 has been brought before the courts by
BNI in the early hours of Friday, July 12 with a strong police presence.

The Court chaired by Ms. Jane Harriet
Akwele Quaye placed the accused on remand, whose plea was not retained and the

in court by Mr. Kwame Akuffo and his legal team.

The indictment obtained by Ghana News
Agency, which was signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sylvester Asare,
indicated that in October 2018, the CID police had received petitions from
16,000 complainants that the second suspects (Brew Marketing
Consult) made a statement through its officers NAM 1, Benedicta and Rose
to the public.

He said that it was to make plaintiffs to
deposit money for a specified period or payable to the consumer with interest under the
the pretext of buying gold from Brew Marketing Consult to be exchanged
Menzgold, monthly interest accrued 10%.

The indictment indicated that where such
representation, the plaintiffs filed various sums of money each

She stated that complaints had been lodged and that
Police were investigating the case, but NAM 1, Benedicta and Rose escaped
and their offices and residence were found locked.

He also stated that a warrant for arrest had been issued
for the arrest of NAM 1, Benedicta and Rose.

and Menzgold Ghana Limited represented by him, have been charged with

131 (1) of the Criminal Offenses Act 1960 (Act 29).

Both companies were also charged
to engage in unlicensed deposit taking, contrary to the fact that
Section 6 (1) of Law 930.

His sister and sister also face the law.

false pretense fraud contrary to subsections 20 (1) and 131 (1)
of the Criminal Offenses Act 1960 (Act 29) and two counts of imprisonment
in accordance with Article 6 (1) of Law 930.
