Covid-19: Ghana’s death toll rises to 799

Two more lives have been lost due to coronavirus disease (Covid-19) according to the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

This brings the total number of registered deaths in the country to 799 to date.

In its latest update, the GHS revealed that as of July 6, a total of 1,982 active cases have been registered in thirteen regions.

The three regions that have not recorded active cases are the regions of Savannah, Upper East and Upper West.

In addition, the new registered cases amount to 159.

Of 97,130 confirmed cases, 94,349 patients have recovered and discharged from various health facilities.

Twenty-three of the recorded cases are said to be serious while 11 others are considered critical.

The Ghana Health Service also revealed that 1,933 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded at Kotoka International Airport. Of this figure, 1,838 people recovered and were subsequently released.

Meanwhile, Greater Accra with 53,282 confirmed cases remains the region with the highest number of recorded cases.
