President Akufo-Addo used his Christmas message to urge citizens to remain determined, hardworking and disciplined to propel the country forward despite the setback caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
While advising Ghanaians to use the season to reaffirm their faith, hope and trust in God and in Jesus Christ, he noted: “In Ghana we have good reason to be grateful to Almighty God. for the path he has taken us.
“Our nation is united and at peace. We continue to be a beacon of democracy on the continent, having led even in the midst of the pandemic transparent, free, fair, credible and secure general elections that have been recognized by local and international observers.
“Our economy is rebounding at a much faster rate than initially expected. We ensure that the basic elements of social justice – broad access to quality education and good health care – are respected. Food is affordable and it is plentiful in the markets, ”he said.
“And we are witnessing the transformation of the Ghanaian economy which will bring jobs to our young people in our country in its wake. We are not there yet, but there is now a much greater conviction that with discipline, determination and hard work we will succeed.
Recognizing that this year’s Christmas celebration will be unconventional, President Akufo-Addo urged everyone to remain committed to stemming the spread of Covid-19 by respecting safety protocols.
He pointed out that adhering to improved hygiene protocols and wearing masks are just some of the ways to get to the New Year healthy and alive.
“Let us be a blessing to the lives of those in need, and by our actions bring good humor to all.
“I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May the Christmas season bring you joy and the New Year usher in a new era of blessing and growth and for all those who are dear to you.
