Covid-19: one more death as active cases in Ghana reach 2,696

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) says one more life has been lost in the country’s fight against the deadly coronavirus disease.

The GHS in its latest update noted that the total number of Covid-19-related deaths since Ghana recorded its first case in March 2020 stands at 1,158.

For active cases, a total of 2,696 have been registered in the 16 regions of the country as of October 3.

According to data provided by the Service on its website, of the 2,696 active cases, 119 are serious while 43 others are said to be critical.

The Greater Accra region recorded the most active cases. About 1,698 of the cases originate from the region.

The northern region, however, recorded an active case.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Health Service has registered 82 new cases. These cases are down since the last three GHS updates.

Cumulatively, this brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 128,368. Of that figure, 124,514 people who tested positive for the virus have recovered and discharged from health facilities.
