The leaders of the People's Party of the Convention, the National People's Convention and the Progressive People's Party of the South Dayi constituency in the Volta region formed an executive council consisting of a "parliamentary candidate of the "Unit" in the 2020 elections.

Felix Lartey, a 43-year-old engineer and CPP / PPA candidate for the 2016 legislative elections, will represent the three parties in the 2020 elections.

At a press conference in Beijing -Avetile, group spokesman Kofi Nani said the initiative was aimed at creating a front that would break the political duopoly of the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party.

He added that the two parties have emerged as the only visible political organizations in the population, which does nothing to help adequate representation in Parliament and citizen participation in the governance process.

Nani said the only way to liberate the people and the constituency of the duopoly was to form alliances and urged other constituencies to do the same and improve local governance.

"We take this opportunity to make a clear appeal to Ghana's 274 other political constituencies, also urging them to take the step we have taken in South Dayi and to obtain candidates for unity and co-operation. -executive, as we have done, "he said.

Nani said the pro-Nkrumah groups have been weakened since the birth of the Fourth Republic and that the tripartite unity in South Dayi was born to "reverse the situation, turn the page, and attract respect." a united movement under joint leadership ".

He said that the PPC and the PPP were united in 2016 and had cemented their unity in 2018 by forming the executive of the joint constituencies chaired by representatives of the different parties.

Mr Nani said the PNC joined the group in 2019 and that they would work to unite the national party.

"The structure we adopt is to have a CPP, PNC and CPP unit rather than dissolve our antennas into a new instance, so we will use our antennae to spread the cause of unity within the national party." , did he declare.

He said their initiative was "definitely the path to the unity of all Pro Nkrumah political parties from below".

Mr. Nani said that the reign of a party in the constituency provides no solution to the problems of the road, the economy, education and health, and that their unity "would advance the cause of ordinary people".

"Next year, at this time of the elections, we will have 28 years of continuous representation of South Dayi within the NDC.All these problems persist … It is time to try another choice or another party to consider if another trend and progress is possible. ", he said.

The Ghana News Agency has learned that the colors and emblems of the party of the unit were not yet known.

Mr. Bernard Mornah, National President of the PNC, said that the "experience" undertaken in South Dayi was commendable and that it would contribute to the unity of all the "Nkrumaistes".

"South Dayi has to show that, thanks to this experience, it is possible to unite parties," he said. make life better ".
