A criminologist, Jones Opoku Ware, has asked prospective couples to watch closely and look for some possible signs of an abusive partner.
Reacting to the high number of spousal murder cases in the country, Mr. Opoku Ware said murder cases are not planned overnight.
He said perpetrators often go through a thorough retrospective and a series of processes before engaging in such crimes.
“When you’re with someone, it’s important to study their behavior. Before a crime is committed, there are so many considerations and reflections before such crimes are committed. And normally, when the person begins to calculate such thoughts, his behavior changes. So when you’re alert, you can pick up the signals even before that person acts, ”he said in an interview with AdomTV.
Meanwhile, data from the Statistical Research and Monitoring Unit (SRMU) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, indicates that some 306 cases of murder were reported to the police as of January 1. to June 30 of this year.
Reacting to such statistics, the criminologist said, “There are signals to watch out for in the people you live with. Some of the signals are that these people all of a sudden start to be in a bad mood, others also stay silent and start looking at you strangely, others also decide to be cheeky all of a sudden and try always to fight.
However, he called on the perpetrators of such crimes to change their minds or risk losing their lives one day.
