As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, Vasiliy Lomachenko will be placing her WBA and WBO lightweight titles against Anthony Crolla in Los Angeles on April 12.
Lomachenko – double Olympic champion with 12 wins and a lone defeat against an accelerated professional career – had to face Richard Commey during a unification bout at the Staples Center, but the IBF champion had been ruled out because of 39, an injury to the hand.
Former WBA leader Crolla will now enter the ring with the sumptuous Lomachenko on the same site.
He is very confident in his ability to upset the odds, despite the fact that he is a huge outsider, and thinks his abilities will be more than enough to defeat the double winner of the Olympic gold medal.
There are many critics who are not satisfied with this contest – what Crolla thinks he has done more than enough to get on the right track.
"I think I can win a world title again, and these are the fights for which I am engaged," said the popular Mancunian.
"It's the biggest fight I can do for myself, I deserved it, it's not like I was given this shot, since I lost my title in favor of [Jorge] Linares, I came back and I won three solid victories.
"I did not win the lottery or win a draw to beat Vasyl Lomachenko, so I'm looking forward to doing it and I love coaching myself as I get older.
"No man is unbeatable, this has been proven with Lomachenko, who lost early in his career."
Crolla (36 wins, six losses, three draws) suffered a second consecutive loss against Linares in 2017, while Lomachenko eliminated Venezuelan last May to win the WBA title.
