The video could be a critical piece of evidence for prosecutors, but Gooding 's attorney said the film did not show "the slightest flicker of inappropriate behavior" and would exonerate it.
"Mr. Gooding has not acted inappropriately, in any form," said attorney Mark Heller.
"Nothing in the video could even be considered ambiguous, and I am frankly shocked and horrified that this case is being prosecuted," he added.
Gooding, dressed in a dark blue suit, smiled and waved as he was going to the police station Thursday afternoon to meet with special investigators. Inside, they took his fingerprints and a photo ID before handcuffing him.
Later, Gooding sat on a wooden bench in the front row of an austere courtroom, his hands cuffed behind his back and his face becoming serious as he waited for his appeal. While a detective unsheathed his wrists, he unsheathed his hands and shook them.
A conviction could put Gooding behind bars for a year. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 26.
Mr. Heller stated that he doubted that the accuser was appearing at the hearing and suggested to prosecutors to charge him with perjury if she testified in court and if her allegations were contradicted by video.
