A father of three has developed a giant swollen head due to a mysterious disease that has left him blind ever since.
Romulo Pilapil, 56, originally from Ormoc, Philippines, initially contracted sinusitis, leaving him with itchy eyes and cold-like symptoms that have lasted for nearly three years.
He first visited his local doctor who prescribed medication, but his condition did not improve.
Romulo's last visit to the doctor took place in 2018 because he could not afford to continue treatment.
The doctors advised him to go to the Manila hospital, but his family could no longer afford his medical expenses.
The features of his face swelled up to four times his usual size, with puffy lips, cheeks and eyes.
The father has since lost his sight because of the swelling, leaving him unemployed because he is unable to continue his work as a carpenter.
John Santos, Romulo's nephew, said: "That day, his eyes were irritated and his nose was red.
"He had a cold so everyone thought it was sinusitis, and then his face started to swell."
The three children of Romulo have since taken a job to take care of their father.
