Dan Butterworth signed a new long-term contract with Rovers as a reward for his progress, which could allow him to make his Championship debut before the end of the season.
The teenager, who left Manchester United in 2015, played two Carabao Cup games with the Rovers this season and was on the bench to win the Millwall win in January.
Butterworth's previous deal was due to expire next season, but Rovers decided to hand him an extended contract, which will last until June 2022.
This talented striker was one of the mainstays of Damien Johnson's successful under-23 team that won the Premier League 2 Division 2 promotion last season. His form this season has seen him twice nominated for Premier League 2 Player of the Month.
He made his debut as Rovers in the Carabao Cup win over Lincoln City in August. He then made a second appearance in the same competition during the defeat at Bournemouth a month later.
Butterworth should follow Tyler Magloire and John Buckley for his league debut before the end of the season after being promised a bright future by boss Tony Mowbray.
"It's good to finally finish the job and dust it off so I can focus on my football," said the 19-year-old.
"I love at Rovers, everything related to the place. Everyone is so close. "
