Accam had his first start for Union this season
Ghana striker David Accam was named Major League Soccer player of the week after his double for the Philadelphia Union in his 3-0 win against Columbus Crew this weekend.
Accam got his first start for Union this season in Saturday's match and was on the brink of scoring two goals and an badist against Ghanaian compatriots Jonathan Mensah and Harrison Afful, both of whom were on the team to help the Union to win 3-0.
Before the game against Columbus, Accam was both emotionally exhausted and at a point in his career where some wondered if he could ever become a reliable scorer.
The Union will head to Cincinnati in the next round of the league on March 30, and Accam should play for the team as she looks to advance on the conference table.
