David Luiz supported the young Mason Mount as "the future of Chelsea" and praised the attitude of the midfielder and its application to training since his return from loan.

The 20-year-old spent last season in Derby County under Frank Lampard, who then took the lead at Stamford Bridge and impressed the championship tremendously.

Luiz expects Mount to have a similar impact on Chelsea over the next season and is looking forward to seeing the West London club focus more on exploiting his horde of young talents.

"It's my boy! I think we had the opportunity to meet each other years ago, when it was only a kid of 10 or 11 years old and that it's now great to be able to play with him, that's great, "Luiz told George Benson's YouTube Football Channel. .

"I think he did very well when he was in Derby. I am so happy because I see a player with a great mentality, a great talent.

"Everyone knows he has the talent, everyone knows he has goals, but I like to watch how he trains, how he listens and tries to improve. I think it will be Chelsea's future – the present and the future – and England for sure. "

Chelsea has been banned from making new signatures over the next two transfer windows, although Luiz thinks it could be a blessing in disguise.

He continued, "I think it's a great opportunity now. I think that a large part of the new generation has talent, she is good, she has a great mentality and she works very well. You mention some big names [Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek] and we have more to come and they can do the job with Chelsea.

"So I think it's a great opportunity for Chelsea to really build a great philosophy within the club, not just with the first team, but the academy, the women's team, with everyone. 'It's important to have this connection around the club to make a difference and have a great positive energy.'
