David Walliams became the first UK judge in the series, Got Talent, to have reached the alarm after being moved to tears by a group of singing schoolchildren.

Boys and girls at Flakefleet Elementary School in Lancashire, ages 5 to 11, performed a choreographed routine for Do not Stop It Now from Queen, led by their leader.

The return earned them a standing ovation from Walliams and fellow judges Alesha Dixon, Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden – before Walliams gave them a seat in the next round.

While Walliams was pressing the button and the scene was covered with golden confetti, the head chef – now dressed in Union Jack pants – burst into tears and kissed his students.

Walliams, moved, collapsed, saying, "You are an excellent teacher. That's your moment. "

In the rest of the series, nine numbers were pbaded in the next round and only one fell flat.

A drag queen dressed as the queen started the program and won four yes for a daring routine.

The ventriloquist Jimmy Tamley, 64, from Devon, was applauded after inviting Walliams and Holden to go on stage.

But his performance took an unexpected turn when Walliams donned his underwear and headed to the judges' table in front of a shocked Cowell.

Ron, a Nottinghamshire actor, was less successful. He left the judges puzzled after appearing on stage dressed in Doctor Who's Dalek.

His rendition of Don Bobby McFerrin's Be Wake Be Happy had all sentenced them to a "no" in less than 20 seconds.

The most daring act of the evening was undoubtedly the Vardanyan brothers, aged 28 and 32, from Russia, whose judges and audience covered their eyes with a balance that defies death.

Ant McPartlin, the host, described the pair as "crazy lunatics" as being poised on the tip of a sword, a few feet off the ground.

Britain's Got Talent will return to ITV next Saturday.
