Australian drummer David Warner scored 85 goals on his return to the Indian Premier League, after missing last year's tournament following his involvement in a balloon manipulation scandal.

The former 32-year-old Australian vice-captain scored 85 balls on 53 balls to give Sunrisers Hyderabad a total of 181-3 against Kolkata Knight Riders.

He put 118 for the first wicket with Englishman Jonny Bairstow.

Warner's international ban ends later this month.

He was sentenced to a one-year ban for his role in the scandal during a test match against South Africa last March.

Subsequently, the IPL prevented him from participating in the 2018 edition of the 20 franchise tournament.

The opener should be part of the Australian World Cup team and play in this summer's Ashes series in England.

During his ban, he also played T20 cricket in Canada, Bangladesh and the Caribbean, and American cricket in Australia.
