Dan DiDio and Jim Lee, co-editors of DC Comics, took revenge after Wendy's Friday, after the fast food chain tweeted that she preferred Marvel to the distinguished contest.

In an Instagram article, Didio and Lee discover Burger King and McDonald's – Wendy's biggest competitors – with the cheeky hashtag "#havingitourway", a nod to Burger King's famous slogan.

Wendy's Twitter account triggered a crossover of food brands on the social media site after responding to a tweet from long-time comics writer Gail Simone who asked the following question: "do you prefer 'Marvel or DC universe?'

The tweet inspired the responses of Marvel and DC Comics, who reacted with a Spider-Man burger and a heartbroken emoji, respectively.

In a later tweet, Wendy's account admitted that he "honestly prefers[s] Image ", the creator's publisher, at spawn and The dead who walk.

Stop trying to be flexible just because we had an opinion on preferences. Read tons of comics. Always have. There was a choice between two, but honestly, I prefer Image. Looking for a list of the best books or just fighting your gums?

Other major brands have participated in the entertainment, including Hot Pockets, Little Debbie, Moon Pie and Checkers and Rally's.

The friendly "stronghold" has since inspired calls for a new Marvel / DC crossover.

Both companies have a long history of crossovers: their respective superheroes clashed in 1976. Superman against the amazing Spider-Man before the collision of competing universes in 1996 DC vs. Marvel and 2003 JLA / Avengers limited series.

The latter marks the last crossover event between the two companies. Marvel and DC have already collaborated on Amalgam Comics, a short-lived work that fused the two worlds into one, creating heroes such as Spider-Boy, Dark Claw, Doctor StrangeFate and Super-Soldier.
