DCI should reflect life with mental illness, study concludes

Mental health patients want diagnostic descriptions from the World Health Organization's International Clbadification of Diseases (ICD) to better reflect their lived experience. This was the main conclusion of a study published in Lancet Psychiatry who systematically sought the patient's point of view on the main guideline for diagnosis.1

The DCI includes 55,000 unique codes for injuries, illnesses and causes of death, and has a significant influence on policy and service delivery.
