Deadpool 3 is closer to production than expected.
Ryan Reynolds recently dropped an Instagram match hinting at the Merc’s return with a mouth… then quickly deleted it. He has since confirmed that filming for the film is set to begin in 2022.
“The percentage of luck? I do not know. I couldn’t put a percentage on that, “he said. Collider. “I would say maybe it’s 50/50? We’re really actively developing it and getting it in pretty good shape. What’s the month in hell? August? Oh next year? Probably great. I would say 70%. “
The untitled sequel doesn’t have a director attached, but Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Wendy Molyneux, better known as screenwriter and executive producer Bob’s Burgers, is working hard on the script.
Reynolds adds, “It’s something that’s just a daily process. Writing is a bit like that, it takes time to do it and go away, and I’m working with the Molyneux on that, it’s been great. They are incredibly talented and so, so smart. They understand this world so much and know how to zigzag when everyone’s expecting a zag so it’s been a lot of fun.
Deadpool’s third outing wasn’t always a dead certificate. Disney’s purchase of 20th Century Fox – Deadpool’s original cinematic home – was a cause for concern. Of course, Disney owns Marvel, but would the studio be inserting an R-rated character into their family MCU? Apparently yes.
Earlier this year, Marvel brass Kevin Feige said on release: “It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan is overseeing a script right now… It won’t be [filming] This year. Ryan is a very busy and very successful actor. We’ve already announced a number of things we now need to do, but it’s exciting that it’s started. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just great to see him bring that character to life.
