Deal with officers who have suggested an amicable settlement for the case of burned children

The Executive Director of the Ark Foundation calls for the immediate withdrawal of some police officers who have suggested an amicable settlement for a case of child abuse.

Angela Dwamena-Aboagye told the Super Morning Show Friday that Ghana's police chief, David Asante Apeatu, must recall the officer (s) and bring them to justice.

"He should find out what happened … and take care of these policemen. They can not continue to treat Ghanaians as if we have no rights while they should protect us, "she said.

In dealing with the substantive issue, the gender equality activist said that what happened to the child is horrible.

The 11-year-old girl was burned by a man (name unknown) for allegedly spying on a woman while she was bathing.

Relating on what happened to Joy News, the victim stated that her friends were spying on the woman but were stranded when they burst. As he had committed no fault, he saw no reason to run, according to him.

However, the suspect was pbading by and after learning that he was part of a group spying on the woman who was bathing, he poured gasoline on him and licked him. fire.

He lay on the floor and cried for a moment before getting help.

When the case was reported to the police, service agents suggested that the case be settled.

The victim's parents who could not even pay medical bills accepted and allowed the boy to go live with his abuser to be taken care of.

However, the suspect took the victim home when his parents were not at home.

He has not been to school since. He also suffers from stigma because wounds have an odor due to lack of treatment.

That happened a year ago.

Dwamena-Aboagye hopes that immediate steps will be taken to bring the author to the pound. No authority can settle a case like this.

"It's an attempt at murder and it's a crime," she told the host Daniel Dadzie.

It also wants the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare to contact the local welfare office to ensure that the victim receives the necessary attention.

"He needs medical and psychological care," she said.
