The government says that this will soon solve the unstable power supply
The delay in fuel supply, among other factors, has manifested in the recent irregular supply of electricity to consumers.
Energy and Communications Manager Nana Damoah, who revealed the news at Joy FM's Super Morning Show on Wednesday, said there had been a partial shutdown of the Atuabo gas plant.
"This meant that the gas supplied was not in sufficient quantity," he said, adding that even at the time "we had no difficulties, we see it now" .
"However, there is a total stop now," said Damoah. He added that they had planned emergency measures to remedy this situation, but that the delay in the delivery of fuel "among others" has left them down.
Damoah, Daniel Dadzie, told his host, Daniel Dadzie, that "the fuel had to go through treatments that can only be done by TOR," said Damoah.
He added that besides that, TOR stored fuel for many companies, including power plants.
However, Damoah is confident that the ministry and other players in the energy sector would address the difficulties that quickly led to the instability of energy supply.
He stated that the problem would be solved in "the shortest possible time".
He hopes that by April 12, the country's energy situation will return to normal.
What do the civil society groups say?
People outside the government, however, believe that the pivot of the volatile energy situation lies in financial constraints.
Ben Boakye, executive director of the policy think tank of the African Center for Energy Policies (ACEP), said Monday at the Super Morning Show that the government was struggling to find money to buy from gasoline to power plants and generate electricity.
But he is not alone. The main opposition party, the NDC, said Monday in a statement that the problem of the energy sector was of a financial nature.
According to the NDC, the continued depreciation of the cedi has increased the debts of the players in the sector.
The government, however, denied that.
