HAMPTON FALLS, N.H. (AP) – A New Hampshire man is ranked second in an innovation contest after making a surfboard with hundreds of used Dunkin & Donuts coffee cups.
Korey Nolan, 32, of Hampton Falls, spent seven months collecting mugs for a contest organized by surf brand Vissla, titled Creators and Innovators Upcycle Contest. The Portsmouth Herald reports that Nolan's painting is made up of 700 cuts.
Nolan also used more than 30 plastic straws and other materials in his painting. Most of the goblets come from family members who gave them to Nolan, although some were picked up by the roadside.
The Herald reports that Nolan compressed the raw materials and finished the board using bamboo, epoxy, etc. The honors went to Titouan La Droitte, who built a board from 150 aluminum cans.
