Everton recruited midfielder Fabian Delph of Manchester City for a three-year contract.

The 29-year-old English international, who joined City from Aston Villa in 2015, joins him for an undisclosed package.

He told Everton's website: "Every time I play Everton, whether at home or away, the first thing that comes to mind when you see fans is pbadion.

"You will always hear Evertonians and I am excited to play at home and hear them when I play."

Delph added, "I'm really happy to be here, I'm going to give it all – nothing less than 100%.

"Hope we can push together, fans and players, to do something special."

The midfielder, who was used by left-back Pep Guardiola during his stay at City, began his career in Leeds before spending six years at Aston Villa.

Delph is part of the Manchester City team that has won successive Premier League titles in the last two seasons and Everton manager Marco Silva is hoping to bring some of this experience to the Toffees locker room.

"When I am looking to bring a new player into our team, the first thing I look for above all else is quality and Fabian is a high quality player," said Silva.

"But what they can bring to our locker room is also important and if you can put these two things together, it can only be beneficial for the club."
