Protesters at Kum Yen Preko demonstration
The ruling party's national organizer, the New Patriotic Party, described as problematic the NDC's main inability to mobilize tens of thousands of Ghanaians to join them in the streets during the Kum Yen Preko demonstration organized yesterday by the Coalition for Social Justice (CSJ).
"This clearly shows that they are losing it in their attempt to gain a foothold in Ghanaian politics," said Sammy Awuku at Kasapa 102.5 FM.
Prior to Tuesday's protest, CSJ official Sammy Gyamfi, who is also the national communications officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), said the protest would be epic and send a strong signal to the government. from Akufo Addo.
The NDC's national organizer, Joshua Akamba, believes that yesterday's protest was one of the biggest mbad protests in the history of Ghanaian politics, saying that "no one is here." she had succeeded in every respect.
About a thousand Ghanaians, including taxi drivers, army officers and ordinary Ghanaians, took to the streets to protest the poor governance of the Akufo-Addo-led administration. said the NDC's National Organizer.
Commenting on the gigantic demonstration of Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM, the national organizer of the ruling NPP, said that the much-debated protest, Kum Yen Preko, was a fiasco despite the growing influence of the main opposition, the NDC, in March.
"Infact, they could not reach the figures provided for the demonstration. Before the march, Anthony Nukpenu, the party's regional organizer, said they hoped that the NDC deputies would each draw a hundred people. If you do the math, then they should have expected no less than 1000 or 1500 given the number of MPs they have in the area, and a total of 30000.
"But the crowd we have seen is not made for the biggest opposition party that wants to seize the power of a government in power. This is not the numbers that I expected myself personally. We organized protests in this country, from Professor Mills' "Atta Adaadaa yen" in 2009 and the "W) n Gbo" demonstration that shook the foundation of the NDC government, which, according to international media reports, revealed that Opposition was mbaded on the streets by millions of Ghanaians. So, for me, this particular event is not particularly good after the NDC announced issues such as hunger, extreme poverty and security issues, among others. This shows two things that one, the party is weak on the ground in terms of mobilization and organization. And second, there is a mismatch between the party and the issues it has been working on.
General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia and President Samuel Ofosu Ampofo have, as part of the event, led their supporters to sit in the street, hands on their heads, mimicking the anguished people.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Sam George, ABA Fuseini, Leeford Quarshie and a host of other personalities were also captured, sitting on the floor and doing similar gestures.
Bernard Mornah, president of the National People's Convention (PNC), was also present at the event.
The event entitled "Kum Yen Preko", namely "Kill us once and for all", was organized by the Coalition for Social Justice (CSJ) with the support of the central democrats and injured Menzgold clients.
