The number of cases of dengue in the state is rising again, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike not reporting more cases than all other districts in the state.
While the state reported a total of 3,785 cases, the BBMP has a lion's share of 2,257 cases. Experts attribute the poor solid waste management of Bengaluru's civic organ to the dengue situation in the city.
In Bengaluru, it is the eastern zone that reported a maximum number of cases with 700 positive cases. The focus is now on the areas of Koramangala and Madiwala, said officials from the health section of the BBMP.
Manoranjana Hegde, head of health at BBMP, said the areas of East and Mahavedapura reported a high number of cases.
"These are areas where stagnation of water is observed. In addition, some localities in these areas are experiencing water scarcity. Because of this, people tend to store water unscientifically and it becomes fertile ground for mosquitoes, "he said.
The BBMP is now ready to conduct a door-to-door survey in the Koramangala and Madiwala areas to badess the numbers, identify potential sources and eliminate them.
