Dengue makes two victims in Khulna

The deceased are: Morjina Begum, 70, and Monjur Sheikh, 13, from the village of Khaja Danga in Rupsha.

Morjina was admitted to the Khulna Medical College Hospital a week ago and died in the early hours of Sunday.

Deputy Registrar of the Department of Medicine, Partho Pratim, confirmed his death. Monjur, a Grade X student at Kazdia Government High School, was admitted to Gazi Medical School and Hospital around 11 pm on Saturday.

He died about seven hours later, said hospital president Gazi Mizanur Rahman.

Since the beginning of this year, 136 people have been hospitalized in Khulna to treat dengue. Currently, 80 patients are treated in hospitals, according to government data.

This year, the dengue epidemic has been severe and hundreds of people are infected every day. Most of the patients are in Dhaka.

On Saturday, 1649 new patients were hospitalized and two people died of dengue fever.
