Arsenal has signed the loan of Denis Suarez of Barcelona on the day.
The Spaniard has agreed to extend his contract until 2021 with Barcelona before moving to North London, where he will spend the rest of the season. Arsenal will then decide if they wish to make this agreement a permanent one.
Unai Emery, director of Arsenal, who worked with Suarez in Spain, said: "We are very pleased that Denis Suarez is joining us, he is a player we know well and I have worked with him in Seville.
"He brings us quality and options in many different attack positions, so he can help the team."
Suarez has been training for the first time as an Arsenal player, shortly after completing his deadline change. here is five things we noticed.
1. Getting up to speed
The first thing Arsenal coach Julen Masach wanted to see from the 25-year-old midfielder was full speed.
He ran the Spanish and helped him to relax before presenting the balls.
2. Work on your agility
Suarez was not left in the cold on Thursday.
After a race, the Spaniard was invited inside to test the equipment at London Colney – oh, and to show his agility.
3. Ball skills on the agenda
The little you've been waiting for; Suarez with a bullet at his feet.
The Gunner coaches set up models and had them dribbled by the Spaniard – and the midfielder was quick to settle down.
4. Shooting practice
After having dribbled around mannequins, the Spaniard showed his shooting skills.
The midfielder will likely play in a central position for the Gunners, but he is certainly an attacker who has a goal in his arsenal.
5. Time for reflection
The first test of Suarez as Arsenal player will be opposed to Manchester City, champion of the Premier League.
He hopes to be able to play for his new team, but he – and the rest of the Gunners' team – will need a plan in place.
