The deputy of the Adansi Asokwa constituency, in the Ashanti region, continues to justify the need to create a new chamber in Parliament.

According to K.T Hammond, the argument that Ghana does not need a new chamber is debatable.

Public criticism has forced the leaders of Parliament to reconsider their decision on the $ 200 million 450-seat room proposal.

Kate Addo, Acting Director of Public Affairs of Parliament, said further feasibility studies were needed for the project to continue in the future.

But speaking of Asempa FM Ekosii Sen program, Monday, K.T. Hammond said the deputies were choking in the current room.

He explained that visitors still took a toilet in Parliament, to the detriment of legislators.

Adidas MP Asokwa lamented that the legislature, as a branch of government in a democratic regime, lacks resources in relation to the executive and the judiciary.

"We spend a lot on the executive and the judiciary. We do not have a Parliament, I tell you, "he said.

Mr. Hammond pointed out that if Ghana wanted to practice democracy, it had to be willing to spend.

"I agree that this may be a bad time, but we do not have a multi-faceted Parliament to welcome us all. Building a new room is necessary.
