Deputy Minister of Commerce Inspects $ 80 Million B5 Plus Steel Project
Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Carlos Ahenkorah reviewed the progress of the $ 80 million B5 Plus Limited steel plant and manufacturing project under the government initiative 1D1F of District 1 Government.
His visit to the Ningo-Prampram site comes eight months after the end of the work. It will be remembered that Mr. Ahenkorah was on the site in September 2018 to cut grbad for the start of work on the project.
Eight months after the first visit, Ahenkorah arrived at the site, surprised by the speed with which the work had progressed.
"On entering here, I must say that I am so surprised. I was overwhelmed by all that was accomplished in just eight months' time, "he said.

Her visit to the site also aimed to determine how the administration of President Nana Akufo-Addo could help investors to undertake various projects under the 1D1F policy.
Management of B5 Plus badured the deputy minister and the government that the project would be completed by September 2019. President Akufo-Addo is expected to commission the steel industry, which will provide approximately 10,000 direct and indirect jobs.
About 800 people have already been employed for its construction work, and another 2,000 would be involved in the project. Ahenkorah said the project was mbadive and that it would make a big difference for Ghana.
The project in its first phase should allow Ghana to save about $ 100 million a year in foreign exchange.
Buk Plus Company Limited Chairman Mukesh Thakwani said his goal is to support the realization of the "Made In Ghana" government dream.
He has however pleaded with the government for it to accelerate its efforts to provide the water, electricity and security needed for the project, as promised.
The president lamented the company's use of tank truck services for construction, which he said was quite expensive.

B5 Plus Ghana Limited was established about 20 years ago. Its headquarters are in Kpone, near Tema. It originally imported steel and iron from Ivory Coast and South Africa, but it has now reached the stage of its production.
In November 2018, the company supported the Ghana Government's One District One Factory initiative with the creation of an $ 80 million steel plant in Ningo-Prampram, Greater Accra Region.
B5 Plus Limited operates in the 15 ECOWAS countries.
