Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has urged Romelu Lukaku to stay at the club and has advised United on the best use of the Belgian.
Lukaku could travel to Inter Milan this summer with the Italian club interested in a move. Inter and the United Kingdom clashed in a pre-season match at Sinagapore on Saturday, while Nerazzurri's new boss, Antonio Conte, hid nothing of his desire to find an attacker and his admiration for Lukaku.
MEN Sport understands that United wants to recover at least £ 75 million paid by Everton for Lukaku two years ago, although Inter is struggling to raise all the necessary funds and would prefer installments.
"I think it should stay," Berbatov told Sky Sports about Lukaku's future.
"I like him, I do not agree with all the criticism he's getting – yes, he has areas in which he has to work like every other player."
Berbatov, like Lukaku, was sometimes criticized during his stay at Old Trafford, but also scored goals.
And the Bulgarian thinks that United has not bet on the 26-year-old's strengths and has advised Ole Gunnar Solskjaer if the club wants to keep Lukaku.
"But his teammates must also help him," Berbatov added.
"For example, if I'm a midfielder and I play with him, I'll know how to pbad the ball to him, when to give it to him, on what foot to pbad it." That's what your teammates need to know how to play with you
"I think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a good coach for him, because if Lukaku wants to ask something from the coach, he can ask him, because Solskajer was a good striker." If you need advice from him, 39, striker, you will go to the coach. "
