Director advises teachers to protect schoolchildren from kidnappers

Ms. Theresa Kyere-Boakye, Education Director of Sunyani Municipality, recommended elementary school teachers to monitor student movements to protect them from kidnappers during school hours.

In an interview with Sunyani on Wednesday at the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Ms. Kyere-Boakye said that teachers also had the mission to protect schoolchildren from danger, by developing interest, students.

She warned that the kidnappers were present and advised schoolchildren to avoid offering free gifts and strolls from strangers.

Ms. Kyere-Boakye also urged parents and guardians to monitor the movements of their children and their wards and provide them with basic educational materials to stay in school.

She cautioned teachers against absenteeism and instructed elementary school principals to impose penalties on teachers for breaking clbades or to report them to management.

She commended the teachers involved in the Nation Builder Corps (NaBCo) for their punctuality and discipline and asked them to continue their commitment to making a positive impact on students.
