Directors Urged to End Syndrome "We're Working On It"

Accra, July 23, GNA – The Chartered
Directors of Institutes and Management Boards, (CIAMC) – Ghana, the
Tuesday held a professional conference with a call to public sector workers and
administrators to end the "we are working on" syndrome.

The conference of one day on the theme:
"Growing together as professionals in the administration: national development partners"
aimed at unifying and strengthening the professionals of the administration in order to
growth.

Mr. Rockson Dogbegah, President of the
Institute of Directors – Ghana, which has appealed to sector administrators
public sector, said that the attitude of not responding to requests made on time
way does not promote productivity.

He said that although the private sector was
sometimes caught in the administrative bureaucracy, that of the public sector,
had become a chancre to be treated if the country were to increase its productivity.

He called the country to wage war
against the attitude of some directors promoting the "we are working on
"Syndrome to allow us to accelerate the growth of the country".

Mr. Dogbegah emphasized the need for
effective and ethical leadership in all spheres of the business world, adding
that "ethical leadership is about transparency, accountability, accountability
and equity.

For his part, Mr. Ignatius Baffuor Awuah, the
Minister of Employment and Labor Relations, stated that the directors were persons
with unique and meaningful roles to play in the success of any organization.

The Minister, who is also a member of
CIAMC-Ghana, said the very successful politicians were the ones who took the
the advice of their conscientious, ethical and efficient directors and had also
builds good working relationships with them.

He called on the directors to change
their attitudes towards work and also aspire to bring about positive reforms to
their way of doing things, adding that it was necessary for them to avoid
abuse time and adhere to good time management practices.

He said that there was also the need to take the
training of serious school administrators because trained administrators
tend to serve as catalysts for the growth of any entity.

Mr. Baffuor Awuah urged the institutions
administrators, especially those who work with politicians, to always strive to
give advice without political bias or any personal consideration because
"Often, their job is to give politicians the options that will allow them to
decide".

He said finally, which was more important
the work done in the interest of Ghana for its promotion and
growth.

He said that to the extent that there was a need for
legislation to regulate the administrative bureaucracy, the most important thing to
to consider was the continuing education of people to make them better and
appreciate their responsibilities.

The area minister said it would be
no need to go out with legislation if people who are supposed to
to implement it did not even live up to what was required of them.

Mr. Samuel Mawusi Asafo, Executive Director
Head of CIAMC-Ghana, said that the conference had been held for the purpose of
educate and enlighten members on the principles of best administrative management
practices.

He said that there was the need to educate the
public and stakeholders on the central role of the administration in the
success of each organization and highlighted the role of strategic leadership of
the administrator of the 21st century.
