Facebook has introduced a new feature called Places and, like everything Facebook seems to be doing recently, we all feel a bit more paranoid and less secure than in the past. You may not want everyone to know if your friends are welcoming you to your therapist. You may like to go to the therapist, but you may not want anyone to know how often you spend your time talking about your addiction to the iPhone. So, if you're eager to know how to disable Facebook Places, continue reading.
Step 1
Log in to your Facebook account. Click the Account menu at the top right of the page and choose Privacy Settings from the drop-down list. You will see a table showing your current privacy settings.
On the left side of the table, locate and choose Custom. You should now see "Customize Settings" with a small pencil on the left at the bottom of the table. Click on it.
2nd step
The last two items in the "Things I share" section of the custom settings page are "Places I'm Recording" and "Include Me in" People Here Now "after I register. Only Me "and you alone will ever be able to see your recordings.
You should also make sure that you uncheck the box next to "Include my name in" Contacts here after my registration. "This will prevent your profile picture from appearing on a list of people at a particular location.
Step 3
Now move on to the next section of this page, What Others Share. Look for "Friends can save me to places" and change it to "Disabled."
Now that you have changed these settings, your friends can no longer locate you. Now the only person who can register you is you, and once you do, the fact that you're there is only visible to you and nobody else on Facebook.
