Hot on the heels of the trailer for The Lion King remake raking millions of views during the Thanksgiving weekend, Disney is considering a big step forward to make another impending remake that goes well.
Pinocchio is a clbadic tale animated by Disney in 1940 in an animated form. Paddington director Paul King. This is the story of a master wood carver named Geppetto who aspires to have his own son. His dream comes true suddenly when he makes the wish of a star for a wooden boy puppet that he has designed to become a real boy. Although the main role has not yet been chosen, a new report indicates Tom Hanks is in discussion to play against the father of family Geppetto, father of Pinocchio.
Collider has the exclusive scoop on Tom Hanks playing Geppetto in the new Pinocchio, which does not have a release date yet. The project has been in development since the spring of 2015 and has even been the subject of an iteration in which Sky Fall Director Sam Mendes was to lead. But he dropped the project and Paul King was hired earlier this year.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story writer Chris Weitz is expected to produce the film, which previously had a script written by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the cursed child). However, the provenance of the recent project is unclear. It is possible that Simon Farnaby is interested in the script after working on the scripts for both Paddington movies with Paul King.
Tom Hanks is an interesting choice for playing Geppetto, mainly because in the clbadic story of Pinocchio, the character is an old Italian man. But we are talking about Disney, so they could take some liberties with the story. But maybe Tom Hanks will put an Italian accent on this movie. After all, he had previously played in a man from a fictional country in Eastern Europe The terminal and he put a pretty thick accent there.
This marks yet another iconic role for Hanks to play in recent years. Previously, he played Walt Disney himself in Save Mr. Banksand he plays Fred Rogers in a future film about the friendship between the personality of children's television and a cynical journalist.
From now on, Pinocchio Production should begin next summer, so we can probably expect it to happen in late 2020 or early 2021. It remains to be seen who will play the puppet title become real boy, but Jacob Tremblay could be a good choice. Stay tuned to see how the Pinocchio redo the distribution is filling.
