Emile Short Inquiry Committee
The investigation commission Emile Short recommended the dissolution of the SWAT team within the secretariat of the National Security Council, which Starrfm.com.gh can confirm.
The confidential report in possession of the agents recommended by Starrfm.com.gh should be rebadigned to their respective units after the dissolution of the SWAT team.
"The Commission recommends dissolving the SWAT team of the National Security Council Secretariat and rebadigning its staff as needed," the report recommends.
"The Commission further recommends that specialized police units be directly solicited when needed for special operations".
In addition, the Commission recommends "the exchange of information between the agencies concerned when an operation involves or would require inter-agency cooperation", such as by-elections, among others.
He added that the police must have sufficient resources "to maintain active communication throughout the duration of operations. Providing equipment only to executives of an operation that can not be everywhere at a time leaves the flank unprotected and this would inspire confidence in any of them. "
The three-member Commission was tasked with investigating the violent events that occurred during the partial election of Ayawaso-West Wuogon. He began his public hearings at Christiansborg Castle, Osu, Accra, on 14 February.
The other members of the commission were Mrs. Henrietta Mensah Bonsu, lawyer and lawyer, and Mr. Patrick K. Acheampong, former Inspector General of Police. Mr. Ernest Kofi Abotsi, former Dean of GIMPA Law School and Private Lawyer, served as Secretary to the Commission.
The mandate of the Commission according to the statement announcing its formation was as follows: to conduct a thorough, faithful and impartial investigation into the circumstances and facts at the origin of the events and related violence that occurred during the By-election of Ayawaso West Wuogon, January 31, 2019; identify anyone responsible or involved in the events, violence and related injuries; investigate any matter that the Board considers to be accidental or reasonably related to the causes of the events, the violence and the resulting injuries; and submit its report to the President within one month, indicating the reasons for its conclusions and recommendations, including appropriate sanctions, if any.
