RAWALPINDI: The District Health Authority's general manager, Dr. Rashid Mehmood Khan, urged residents to eliminate stagnant water in outdoor and domestic environments in order to prevent mosquitoes from reproducing after rain and submerged waters, reported ARY News.
The health professional said that although only two cases of dengue fever were detected in 2019, it was necessary to remain vigilant to prevent the spread of dengue larvae during the season.
He urged the public to prevent the accumulation of stagnant water after the rain in order to guard against mosquito-borne diseases, including dengue fever.
Dr. Rashid stated that nothing was more valuable than human life and that zero tolerance would be demonstrated in dengue control.
He added that dengue fever was under control in Rawalpindi and that the health department was on high alert to cope with any situation. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorms / dust dust with gusty winds in isolated areas of Rawalpindi Division over the next week.
Weather conditions are conducive to breeding dengue larvae because of the vast open freshwater reserves, easily accessible by mosquitoes.
