Divock Origi revealed how much he listened to his instincts allowing him to become a hero of the Champions League for Liverpool.
Origi appeared as a key figure in the final weeks of the competition last season, scoring two goals in the semifinal win against Barcelona and scoring the second goal of the 2-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid.
Such a contribution helped revive his career at Anfield with the striker signing a new long-term deal with the club last month.
Origi had chances to leave last summer and in January, but instead chose to fight for his place under Jurgen Klopp although he did not become a team of matches until October.
And explaining his decision to stay, the Belgian said: "It was an instinct. For me, I just sat down and I wanted to stay and help this team.

"I felt good, I had to continue to perform at training and I knew my luck would come.
"I felt we could do something special. I had to block everything on the outside and focus on the good things.
"In football, you never know 100%, it could have been different too, but that's the choice I've made."
Origi spent the 2017-18 season on loan at Wolfsburg and could have joined the Wolverhampton Wanderers before opting for Anfield.
The 24-year-old also scored late wins against Everton and Newcastle United in the final quarter, becoming a favorite among his supporters. It was one of the main attractions when Reds fans were allowed to attend a free practice at Fenway Park in Boston on Saturday.
"A lot of things happen in one year," added Origi. "And that's the beauty of football. You can see that I am again focused on my performance. It's good to come here and reconnect with the fans.
"Has Madrid changed the direction of my career? Yes, it's a great experience. Winning the Champions League is a dream for a boy, so it changes a lot in a player's career.
"I'm trying to be as fit as possible and just perform. I feel good, I feel good, there is a strong vibration in Liverpool and I think we have to use it properly.
"There could be hard times in the future, as there could be good times, I'm just getting ready for the best."

Origi became a key player in the early months of Klopp's reign before suffering an ankle injury against Everton in April 2016.
The Liverpool coach thinks the striker regained his form and confidence only recently.
But Origi said, "I would not compare those moments. I am not someone to make statements that I am better than then or not. I feel good, I feel good on the field and I just try to show it every time.
"Then I was in very good shape, I finished very well last season and still at the training, I feel good. It's up to me to show it on the ground.
"It could be a good season, it could be more difficult. These are problems that you have to face, but I am ready for anything, trust in this team and in myself. "
