Presidential candidate Abu Sakara 1 Abu Sakara

Mr Abu Sakara Forster, former presidential candidate of the People's Party of the Convention (PCP), called on youth to remain united despite our religious and sectoral differences. He said that Ghana was fortunate to enjoy peace and stability today and that we could not afford to destroy it.

Dr. Abu Sakara said that we must be aware of what is happening in the countries around us and work for the protection of our peace and stability.

"Today, we have many problems and situations around our country, and our neighbors do not know peace.

We have problems in Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali – all extremist in nature and led by religious extremism.

If our people do not understand that this is a ploy and that peaceful coexistence with our fellow Ghanaians can be disrupted by following such people, we will have problems, "he said.

He spoke at a national consultative meeting of the leaders of Wangara (Mende) on the theme: "Peace, unity and development: the way forward".

Dr. Abu Sakara said the meeting was important because it gave them the opportunity, as Mendes, to affirm their commitment as citizens of this country.

He congratulated the leaders for organizing this meeting which had brought together people dispersed in the diaspora for a long time.

Dr. Abu Sakara said that the meeting helped them to rediscover the meaning of their objectives and to consider how they could better contribute to the respective countries where they were.

"We also want to demonstrate that regardless of religion, we can live in peace and harmony and that no one should bring extremist religions here to cause unrest," he said.

Dr. Abu Sakara said the meeting would inform their expanded members – Wangaras, Gonjas and Walas, among others – that they were one, because they came from the ancient Ghanaian empire and that They could therefore coexist peacefully.

Nana Yusif Fanyinama, chairman of the Wangara Council of Chiefs in Ghana, said the meeting was aimed at promoting peace, unity, development and the way forward.

"The main objective is to examine our past, our present, the way forward and how we can maintain the peace and unity we have.

The Wangaras have been in this country for a very long time, even before the arrival of the white man, "he said.

He urged the Mendes to return home and contribute to the development of the newly created savanna region, which they had longed for.
