PDS recently took over the electricity distribution of the Ghana Electricity Company
The Energy Distribution Service (PDS) urged the public to collaborate with its field agents when they perform official duties.
The plea follows the attack of a PDS resident who was working on a defective line in Kokrobite, Greater Accra area.
Some parts of Accra have experienced power outages in recent weeks and residents in some of the affected areas have expressed frustration with the situation.
Fred Baimbill-Johnson, head of PRS public relations for the West Accra region, who recounted the incident to Citi News, said the victim had been badaulted in the line of duty.
Last Saturday, we learned that some parts of Kokrobite were out of power. So we went there to check what the problem was. In checking the problem, we realized that a tree was interfering with our lines. So our technicians went down that tree, they saw a man approaching a girl and they asked them not to approach because there were branches that fell. So, I think it did not please him, so he quarreled with the team and one of the sabers used to cut the tree was caught, he l? took and threw, while everyone was running, one of our technicians fell he threw him while he was on the ground.
"For us, what we are asking for is more collaboration. We ask the public to realize that, within the limits of our power, we want them to have more power. Such cases only provoke anger and make it difficult to work in communities, "he added.
