Students writing their BECE at the Kanda School Group
The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC) urged candidates who pbaded the 2019 Basic Education Certification Exam (BECE) to give up any form of misconduct. # 39; s exam.
A total of 517,332 students, including 263,616 men and 253,716 women, take this year's exams.
In a statement to wish good luck to the candidates, the GNECC National Coordinator, Ms. Veronica Dzeagu, said: "The main purpose of such reviews is not to drop a child. It is rather to evaluate the progress made by the child in his learning. We urge all students, teachers, parents and all other stakeholders to avoid cheating in order to gain an advantage over other students. "
The GNECC also stressed the need for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to implement measures to prevent leakage of exams.
"We hope that all the necessary measures have been put in place to prevent the problems of cheating and document leakage that have confused previous examinations," the statement said.
Candidates from the troubled district of Chereponi, in the Northeast Region, where recent community violence was reported in several areas dominating Konkomba and Chokosi, returned to take part in the review.
The GNECC was of the opinion that "security should also be strengthened" to provide students with adequate protection during their one-week exam.
The Coalition also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the right to quality education for all children in Ghana.
