In an interview with journalists in Accra yesterday, Mr. Dery asked the people not to protect any of the criminals because they were a danger to society.
"Do not protect anyone because this person is a member of your family. If you protect them because the person that they killed is not your parent, someone else will kill you. also because you are not his parent, "he said.
One person died as a result of the shootings at the NDC office in Amakom, Kumasi.
The shooting occurred during a meeting between national party officials and the NDC regional executive committee for Ashanti.
Fight vigilance
Mr. Dery also urged the public to refrain from any act of guilt in such situations but rather to join forces to fight head-on against vigilantism, otherwise the threat would invade the whole country.
He cited the case of Boko Haram in Nigeria which, he says, started as a self-defense group and therefore stressed the need for Ghanaians to devote themselves to the total elimination of militancy in the country .
"The common enemy is impunity, the enemy is a criminal offense, the enemy is vigilantism, let's fight it together.
"Do not put the numbers against each other, trying to find out who is involved or who is behind.
The important thing is that there is an offense. and we should all work together to bring the guilty to the pound and let the law run its course.
Do not try to avenge yourself because it is in itself another form of vigilance, "added the minister.
