Former President Jerry John Rawlings urged students at the University of Ghana to use their juvenile exuberance to attack and find ways to limit the influx of flying incidents. qualified on campus.

According to him, students should not let thieves harbad them on campus, because they can solve and manage the situation permanently without waiting for the help of the police, university authorities or the government.

He explained that for robberies to stop dramatically, students need to take advantage of their young age to think proactively and act accordingly because they are the right people to stop it.

And for that, students must also think like thieves to know how to save the situation.

Rawlings cited his life as an example. He always fought for what was right in his youth, because he had the strength to do so and was shocked by the fact that young people today are inactive, allowing to take advantage of their vulnerability.

Speaking at the 3rd series of groundbreaking lectures at the Business School of the University of Ghana on the theme "Developing a National Character for Sustainable Good Governance," Rawlings said, "I have engaged in many actions since i was tiny … but until then right out of school if i had a reason to believe that someone was doing the wrong thing, i would would beat like I wanted it … The average age of your presence here will be around 23, 22, 24? In terms of energy, tenacity, etc., nothing beats this age.

"And you sit down and let loose thieves come and harbad you? And put you bad at ease? No, no, you can handle that. Do not expect the police to come and do it for you. You can take care of it, think like a thief too. You are young men, they should never dream of coming to do this on campus. You can do it".

In recent times, students from the University of Ghana have been attacked by thieves at conferences or at the library before going home.

The section of the James Topp Nelson Yankah Pentagon hall has become a notorious hiding place for criminals who often inflict injuries on students, strip them of their belongings, and sometimes attempt to rape women.

Earlier this month, a senior year psychology student at the university was badaulted by thieves. The students of the campaign; #MakeUGaSafePlaceAgain lobbied the university authorities for it to take the necessary steps to immediately remedy the recent state of insecurity that reigned in the school.

Management, however, reiterated its commitment to ensuring that the institution is secure for academic work and provided street lighting on the spot for them.

But former President Rawlings is of the opinion that students are the only ones able to put an end to campus flying business.
