A British doctor was “disgusted” after witnessing a crowd of anti-masks chanting “COVID is a hoax” outside a London hospital.
Dr Matthew Lee shared video footage of the astonishing scene, which took place outside St Thomas’s Hospital in London on New Years Eve.
The crowd gathered without worrying about social distancing measures as no one present wore a mask.
This came as the number of Covid-19 cases in the UK continued to rise sharply, with London being one of the worst-affected regions in the country.
Ireland is also starting to see an increase in the number of positive tests and recorded deaths, as the government takes action to stem the flow of the virus.
Anti-mask and anti-lockdown sentiment has raged in Ireland, with Dublin witnessing several protests as well as a protest sit-in from opponents of the measures.

In the case of the scenes that took place in London, Dr Lee suspects that many of those present were under the influence of alcohol.
Writing alongside the video, the young doctor said, “I worked the last A&E SHO shift in NYE and got out of it.
“Hundreds of drunk and unmasked people in huge groups shouting ‘Covid is a hoax’, literally outside the building where hundreds are sick and dying.
“Why do people still not realize the seriousness of this pandemic?
“I am disgusted but above all sorry. I wish people could see the amount of # COVID19 and deaths in hospitals, and the sacrifices healthcare workers are making. This week alone has been so difficult.
“Their ignorance hurts others. I really want people to protect themselves.
The shocking footage has since gone viral, prompting reactions from a number of celebrities on Twitter, including Piers Morgan, who called the behavior of those in the clip “disgusting.”
“These morons are shaming Britain,” he said.
“If this is a hoax, let’s take all these fools inside the Covid room without PPE. See how brave they feel when faced with the reality of people choking to death. “
