When the young patient, Caleb Giftan, insisted that his books be delivered to the hospital, he did not know that he would get a qualified doctor to teach him general science.

Caleb's family became anxious after starting to complain of left leg pains one afternoon in November 2018 when he returned from school.

The family began by finding supernatural remedies because she suspected the 'mysterious disease' of being a case of spiritual attack.

The state of the last year of lower secondary education worsened and he was taken to the LEKMA hospital in Teshie, Accra for treatment on 15 January.

Upon his admission, he asked his mother to provide him with his textbooks, a request that was duly granted to the admiration of Dr. Eleanor Naa Norkor Light, who volunteered to help in his revisions .

Impressed by his love for his books despite his health problems, Dr. Light took advantage of his free time to take him through subjects in general science and mathematics, while calming him with words of encouragement.

Caleb's older brother, Abdul Salam, who shared photos of the doctor and his brother on social media, expressed his gratitude to the management, staff, doctors and nurses at LEKMA Hospital for their professionalism and dedication to service.

He added that, among several critics of Ghana's health system, the sacrifice of some workers should not be overlooked, as it helps to improve the physical and psychological well-being of patients.

Salam said he hopes his brother, who is now in a wheelchair after losing control of his lower limbs, will be back in time to join his clbadmates at school.

Now released, Caleb, a student of Manle Dada JHS in Accra, said his situation was improving day by day and that he was hoping to prepare for the upcoming exam, which should be postponed. from June 10 to 14, instead of an earlier date. June 3rd to 7th.

The Ghana Education Service, in a statement last year, urged heads of primary schools to review the revised date and prepare candidates accordingly.

More than 500,000 registered candidates are expected to attend the BECE organized this year by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
