Edward Doe Adjaho, former Speaker of the Ghanaian Parliament, praised the late Torgbui Amegavieso V, the “Dusifiaga” of the traditional area of Avenor during the final funeral rites of the traditional chief.
Mr Adjaho described the late leader, who ruled for over 60 years, as an affable personality, a team player who did not speak ill of the dead and was not afraid to defend his position in the fight. for the development of the inhabitants of Avenor.
He said the late Amegavieso V worked closely with him while representing his constituents in Parliament.
“I have known him for over 31 years. I remember when the late Amegavieso had a problem with the Comptroller and Accountant General Department, I intervened for him as his lawyer when I was public prosecutor at the time, and all his rights were duly paid to him, “he said.
He said that during his tenure as the Akatsi deputy at the time, the heads of the South (Avenor) and North (Ave) were brought together to form what he called the “Council of Chiefs of the Akatsi District ”to serve as a platform they can use to discuss development and other issues and“ the late right-wing leader of Avenor was a prominent member where he did his best to promote the peaceful coexistence between the leaders.
The former South Akatsi lawmaker before he was elevated to Speaker of Parliament from 2013 to 2017, revealed that the late leader was also appointed to the South Akatsi District Assembly where they both worked together to the growth of the region.
Mr. Adjaho also recognized the altruism and passion for the development of all the lands of Avenor by the late chief before his passing.
“I wish to express my sincere condolences to the family, leaders and all the sons and daughters of Ave and Avenor and the region as a whole, for this great loss. I ask that peace and unity prevail while we get a good successor to continue from where it left off.
Full tributes were received from the Avenor Traditional Council under the leadership of Togbe Dorglo Anumah VI, Supreme Leader of the Avenor Traditional Zone and President of the Avenor Traditional Council, family, children, civil society groups and individuals for its immense contribution to the progress of the area.
The final funeral rites, which followed a series of activities such as cultural performances, public lectures and more, brought together all of Avenor’s chiefs and queen mothers as well as traditional chiefs from parts of the country.
Known in private life as James Kwabla Kposu, the late Amegavieso V was born in Avenorpeme on January 1, 1920.
He succeeded the late Torgbui Amegavieso IV, who died in 1960.
Before his disappearance, he worked in several government establishments, including the Attorney General’s Department in Accra as an accountant.
He was 105 years old.
