HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A dog named Lucifer saved his owner from a burning house in Kansas, according to United Press International.

Larry Moore was asleep in his lounge chair when a fire broke out around 2 am on Wednesday in his home in Hutchinson. UPI reported that the smoke detectors were not working and Moore thought that he would have continued to sleep if it was not from Lucifer. "19659009" "He jumped on my lap, jumped on my lap and woke me up, and I turned around, and the house was on fire," Moore told KWCH-TV. "I do not think I would have done it, to be honest, because it happened so quickly."

Moore managed to get up and leave the house with Lucifer and his other dog, but he suffered smoke inhalation after returning to the house for personal items, UPI reported.

The Hutchinson Fire Department stated that the fire was caused by "inadequate extensions."
