Navarrete agreed to fight Dogboe in May
Emanuel Navarrete, WBO title holder, will face Isaac Dogboe in a rematch this spring. ESPN announced that the fight was likely to take place in May.
Navarrete (26-1, 22 KO's) surprised Dogboe (20-1, 14 KO's) to win the 122-kilo title on December 8 in New York on the Lomachenko-Pedraza undercard. The Mexican fighter won on the scores of 115-113, 116-112 and 116-112 to win the belt.
Navarrete, 24, became the underdog because he had never really fought at the top, but it was one of those occasions when a fighter proved that Just because you did not fight there, means you can not. He ended the decisive year of Dogboe, 24, and the Ghanaian is now seeking to recover his title.
Dogboe started its 2018 season with a Cesar Juarez win at home in Accra, then came to the US to win Jessie Magdaleno's WBO belt in April, one of the most exciting of the year. He made his defense in August, stopping Hidenori Otake in the first round, before the defeat against Navarrete.
